How to Pay PTA Tax with a PSID
Tax year 2026-27 · Updated Sep 24, 2026 · TaxGuide
You can pay PTA tax only after DIRBS and FBR have issued a PSID for your IMEI. A calculator estimate, including the one on TaxGuide, is not a bill.
Get the PSID
- Open dirbs.pta.gov.pk/drs, dial
*8484#, or visit a mobile operator franchise. - Sign up as an individual. Use a SIM issued on your own CNIC or passport.
- Enter every IMEI from
*#06#. - Submit. FBR WeBOC returns a PSID and the amount. Save the SMS or email.
The PSID is valid for 7 days. After that it is deleted and you apply again. There is no discount for registering inside 60 days. Registering after 60 days, or as a local CNIC applicant, can add extra duty.
Pay at a bank
PTA’s FAQ says the applicant pays at a commercial bank. In practice people also use an ATM.
- Take the PSID and the exact amount.
- Ask for FBR / government tax payment, not a generic bill.
- Match the PSID on the receipt with the PSID in your DIRBS message before you confirm.
- Keep the receipt. Payment goes to FBR through 1Link. DIRBS then moves the application from Pending to Approved.
Paying the wrong PSID is an FBR matter. PTA does not refund it.
JazzCash, Easypaisa, and bank apps
Some wallets list FBR or mobile phone tax and accept the PSID. Others reject it, or say the bill is already paid when it is not. If the wallet or bank app fails, pay at a branch or ATM. Do not generate a second application while the first PSID is still valid.
After payment
Send the IMEI to 8484 again. Approval can take time because operators receive the unblock list hourly. If the bank receipt is paid and DIRBS still shows Pending after a day, take the receipt to the bank or FBR, and if the phone stays blocked, file a complaint at complaint.pta.gov.pk.
The bands behind a typical bill are on the PTA tax slabs page.
Questions
Where do I pay PTA tax?
Pay the PSID from DIRBS at a commercial bank. The payment goes to FBR. A wallet works only when it accepts that PSID.
