Federal excise duty
Updated Sep 22, 2026 · TaxGuide
Federal excise is not calculated here yet. The rate belongs to a listed item in the official schedule, and that schedule is not published as a TaxGuide rule set.
Federal excise duty is charged under the federal excise law on goods and services named in the schedule. Cement, aerated drinks, cigarettes, and some services are typical examples, but the list and the rates move when the law changes. A calculator that offers one rate for “excise” would mix unlike items.
Token tax is different again: that is a provincial vehicle tax. Sales tax and customs duty are different charges too. The name on the receipt matters.
TaxGuide will add an excise calculator when each covered item has:
- the schedule row
- the unit the rate uses
- the effective dates
- the Finance Act, notification, or FBR document
Until then this guide is the page to read, not a number to rely on.
